Towsure branded towbars are guaranteed for the lifetime of the vehicle it has been originally fitted to, and whilst in the original purchaser's ownership. If the vehicle is sold or the towbar is transferred to another vehicle, this guarantee is automatically cancelled. Subject to these conditions, the towbar is guaranteed for life against faulty materials or workmanship. In the case of a complaint, we reserve the right to supply replacement parts or a complete towbar as we see fit. This guarantee does not cover any labour charge or claims for compensation for loss of use or other incidental loss or damage.
Â
All new Towsure towbars produced since November 2013 feature our ElectroShield protective powder coating (NB. At the time of writing some older stock towbars are primed with a good quality primer and subsequently a good coat of paint will maintain a strong weatherproof finish)
Â
The notes below should be followed to ensure correct installation of your towbar within the terms of the lifetime guarantee.
Â
Observe Towing Limits
Your Towsure towbar is designed to fit the specific stress points of your vehicle model (specified Manufacturer’s Mounting Points in the case of towbars with part code suffix 'E/ED'), which is why your Towsure towbar is fully guaranteed to tow trailers and caravans up to the maximum recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer. Please refer to your vehicle’s handbook for this information.
When towing multi-axle trailers and caravans with uncompensated axles, or movable loads, shock loads can be imposed upon the towing vehicle in excess of the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations. It is recommended for safety reasons that when towing this kind of load, the maximum towing weight is reduced.
Â
Before Fitting.
Before fitting your towing bracket it is important that the chassis and body shell is first inspected for any structural corrosion, damage or misaligned body panels. Any damage should be professionally repaired before fitting the towbar.
Â
All mating surfaces should be clean and free from corrosion, underseal and sound deadening materials. All surfaces cleaned and prepared should be treated with a good quality zinc-rich primer. Your Towsure towbar comes powder coated (or in the case of some older stock, primed with a good quality primer and subsequently a good coat of paint will maintain
a strong weatherproof finish.)
Â
Shakeproof Washers.
These are supplied with all nuts. For correct fitting, the nut is held whilst the bolt is tightened to the correct torque. This allows the washer to bite into the nut to resist loosening. Do not forget to use any flat, spring or shakeproof washers that are supplied with bolts or set screws. (Set Screw - a bolt without a nut, supplied where threaded fixing points exist on the vehicle.
Â
It is recommended to periodically check and retighten as necessary, all fixing nuts and bolts
