Toyota Prius owners will be delighted by the fact that they will now be able to tow caravans thanks to new discreet accessories.
For those who own the eco-friendly hybrid, it means that they too, will have the ability to own a caravan.
Toyota have proven that they are not just concerned about new technology and innovations because the new Prius has been designed to tow a lightweight caravan or a trailer – this is the first time in its 19-year history that this has been possible. It is the best-selling hybrid car in the world and now that it has been designed so that a tow hook can be fitted it means that the car has a new level of practicality and caravan owners now have another option when it comes to the vehicle they use to tow their caravan.
New heat management measures have been introduced to the main electric motor and differential within the hybrid system. With this measure in place, it now has the ability to tow a total weight of 725kg and that means that it can tow a lightweight caravan.
Installing the hitch is a fairly easy process and it comes with green and red indicators which show that the tow has been properly fitted which is a neat addition. Unhooking the hitch is simple and drivers can store it neatly away in the boot.
The Prius is known for its clean lines and Toyota have still managed to maintain that look due to improved head management of the hybrid’s system generator and differential. This has allowed them to place all connecting hardware under the lower lip of the rear bumper and this is what allows them to include a tow hook in the design of the car.
To add to this, the car offers further safety with a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety test. This gives caravan owners a different vehicle to consider – a vehicle that is efficient, smart and safe.
