Renogy 120W ShadowFlux Rigid Solar Panel Kit
Renogy 120W ShadowFlux Rigid Solar Panel Kit
Advanced ShadowFlux Anti-Shading Technology
The Renogy 120W ShadowFlux Rigid Solar Panel Kit brings advanced solar technology to compact off-grid power systems. At the heart of the kit is Renogy's 120W ShadowFlux N-Type rigid solar panel, designed with cell-level shadow management technology to help reduce the performance losses that can occur when part of a conventional solar panel becomes shaded.
Partial shading can be particularly challenging for solar panels installed on motorhomes, caravans, campervans and boats, where roof-mounted equipment, rooflights, aerials, vents, trees and surrounding structures can create unavoidable areas of shade. ShadowFlux technology is designed to help manage these conditions at cell level, helping the panel maintain more stable energy production rather than allowing a shaded section to significantly affect the performance of the entire panel.
The panel uses 48 high-efficiency Mono N-Type cells arranged in a 3 × 16 configuration and provides a maximum rated output of 120W under Standard Test Conditions (STC). Renogy specifies an optimum operating voltage of 28.9V and an optimum operating current of 4.21A.
High-Efficiency N-Type Solar Panel
The ShadowFlux panel uses N-Type monocrystalline solar cell technology, providing an efficient and compact way of generating renewable electricity from available sunlight. Its rated maximum power output is 120W, with a 33.7V open-circuit voltage and 4.57A short-circuit current.
The panel is designed for use within systems with a maximum system voltage of 1,000V DC and has a maximum series fuse rating of 15A. These specifications allow the panel to form part of a properly designed off-grid solar installation while providing the electrical characteristics required for connection to a compatible solar charge controller.
Renogy's ShadowFlux design is particularly suited to mobile and off-grid installations where achieving completely unobstructed sunlight throughout the day is not always possible. The technology is intended to help minimise the effect of partial shading and maintain more consistent panel performance in changing real-world conditions.
Complete 120W Solar Charging Kit
This package provides more than just the solar panel, making it a convenient starting point for a compact off-grid solar installation. The kit supplied by Pennine Leisure Supplies includes:
-
1 × Renogy 120W ShadowFlux rigid solar panel – RE26201
-
1 × 20ft 10AWG connection cable – RE26921
-
1 × set of Renogy mounting brackets – RE26924
-
1 × Renogy 20A MPPT solar charge controller – RE26391
-
1 × cable gland
The included components are designed to work together as a solar charging system, allowing the panel to be connected to the MPPT charge controller and subsequently to a suitable battery bank.
The supplied 20A Renogy Rover MPPT controller supports 12V and 24V systems and uses Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology to optimise the power harvested from the solar panel as sunlight and operating conditions change. Renogy specifies a 20A rated charging current and a maximum PV input voltage of 95V DC for this controller.
Designed for Motorhomes, Caravans, Boats & Off-Grid Use
The compact format of the 120W panel makes the kit suitable for a wide range of mobile and off-grid applications. It can be used as part of a solar charging system on motorhomes, campervans, caravans, boats, sheds, cabins and other suitable installations where a 12V or 24V battery system requires solar charging.
The rigid aluminium-framed construction provides a more traditional permanent installation compared with portable or flexible solar panels. The supplied mounting brackets can be used to secure the panel to an appropriate installation surface, while the included cable gland helps provide a neat route for the solar cable through a suitable mounting surface.
The 120W output is particularly suited to smaller solar installations where roof space is limited but additional battery charging capacity is required. It can also form part of a larger system where the installation is correctly designed with compatible components and suitable electrical protection.
Durable Construction for Outdoor Installation
The Renogy ShadowFlux 120W panel features an anodised aluminium alloy frame and tempered front glass, providing a robust construction for outdoor solar applications. The panel measures approximately 1,052 × 578 × 30mm and weighs approximately 6.81kg.
The panel is designed to operate across a wide temperature range of approximately -40°C to +85°C. Renogy specifies a nominal operating cell temperature (NOCT) of 45 ± 2°C and temperature coefficients of -0.29%/°C for maximum power, -0.25%/°C for open-circuit voltage and +0.05%/°C for short-circuit current.
The solar panel junction box is rated IP67, while the panel's solar connectors are specified as IP68 in the Renogy datasheet, providing protection appropriate for outdoor solar installations when correctly connected and installed.
20A MPPT Charge Controller & System Protection
The included Renogy Rover 20A MPPT charge controller is designed to regulate the electricity produced by the solar panel before it is supplied to the connected battery bank. MPPT technology continually tracks the panel's maximum power point, helping to make efficient use of available solar energy as conditions change.
The controller supports 12V and 24V systems, with automatic voltage detection for non-lithium batteries. Renogy specifies a maximum PV input voltage of 95V DC and maximum PV input power of 260W on a 12V system or 520W on a 24V system. It also incorporates protection against overcharging, over-discharging, overload and short circuits.
The controller measures approximately 210 × 151 × 68mm and weighs around 1.4kg. The included system therefore provides a compact but capable solar charging arrangement for a suitably sized 12V or 24V battery bank.
Installation & Compatibility
The Renogy 120W ShadowFlux kit is intended for installation as part of a suitable off-grid solar charging system. The included MPPT controller is designed for 12V and 24V battery systems, while the supplied cable and mounting hardware provide the essential components required to connect and secure the solar panel.
Installation should be carried out using appropriate solar wiring, fusing and electrical protection, with the system configured according to the requirements of the connected battery and other equipment. The solar panel should be installed in a suitable location with adequate structural support and appropriate consideration given to shading, ventilation, cable routing and weather exposure.
The kit is particularly well suited to customers looking for a compact solar charging solution for motorhomes, campervans, caravans, boats and other off-grid applications where partial shading can be difficult to avoid.
Please note: Solar output varies according to sunlight intensity, panel orientation, temperature, shading, installation conditions and other environmental factors. The 120W rating is measured under Standard Test Conditions and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed continuous output in real-world conditions. The panel and controller should be installed and configured in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the requirements of the complete electrical system.
