A 21-speed Shimano gearing system gives a good range for varied terrains and gradients, and speed is easily controlled with the front & rear V-brakes with plenty of stopping power.  With longer rides in mind the Strada is equipped with a Selle Royal Essenza saddle for rider comfort.
