Campfires are always a staple in anyone’s camping trip, no matter the season. But they perfectly suit an autumnal camping trip and are a great way to get cosy under the stars.
For the perfect cosy campfire, there are a few essentials you need for a good time.
A comfy chair
Most often than not, your campfire gathering will last at least a couple hours and you want to be as comfy as possible during that time. We strongly advise against you sitting on the floor. Not only will it make you dirty, but it will also make you colder which you don’t want, especially in the colder months. Instead, look for camping chairs that you can sit in for long periods of time so you can sit around the campfire comfortably and socialize with your campmates.
A blanket
Carrying on the cosy route, you may also want a blanket to keep you warm whilst sat around the fire. Not only are they a great idea to keep you warm around the campfire, but they are also ideal for adding an extra layer in your tent at night. If you are planning on keeping warm with a blanket around the campfire, make sure to keep it away from an open flame.
Lighter and matches
A very obvious camping essential is a box of matches and a lighter. Unless you want to sit and rub sticks together… Having matches and a lighter or two to hand will make life a lot easier as you can get the fire lit quickly and get cooking.
Cooking utensils
Whether it be making a big meal or just some sweet treats, you are bound to need utensils around the campfire. The obvious utensils are your standard spatula and cooking spoon, pots and pans, but you are also best packing some long metal skewers. They are great for cooking lots of different foods like meat skewers and the staple roasted marshmallows and are easy to clean and reuse… perfect.
